Longing for my Home
A lost boy finds a mysterious portal whose destination is unknown, but could lead him home. It is just not the fear of entering the portal and ending up in another unknown place, but the fear of not being able to return home.

This short animation was made as an entry for the Global Economic and Environmental Opportunity (GEEO) Art Competition of University of Central Florida.

For this animation I used the 3D software Autodesk Maya and Adobe After Effects. In addition, I produced the short audio track on Ableton Live. In Autodesk Maya I modeled the enviroment and the boy. Later, I animated the walls closing and opening. In After Effects I created the trippy effect as a short video with the help of “colorama” and “turbulent displace” effects. Then, I came back to Maya and textured all elements, adding the trippy effect video behind the walls to create the portal. After rendering the animation I brought it to After Effects to improve colors and add enviromental details like the fog. After having the full animation I produced the short song on Ableton Live and added it in After Effects.
